The Bottom Line:
Don't buy this camera because it doesn't come close to the other cameras Olympus created, and you will be sadly disappointed with the quality and features.
Like someone else wrote, I too thought this camera would be comparable to the C-750UZ. Sadly, it doesn't come close. This camera has a nice zoom feature, but good luck getting your camera to lock in on a focus. I've had a lot of experience with SLR cameras. I chose not to purchase an SLR camera because they are cumbersome, and my days are spent caring a diaper bag. So, I have enough to carry. The SP-500 is light weight and easy to carry. So, it seemed to fit my current needs. Unfortunately, the time it takes this camera to focus does not meed my needs. If you have young children that are on the go, this camera is not for you. Even if you lock in the focus ahead of time, it seems to have trouble holding that focus. I've read over the manual to see if I could find settings to make the camera take pictures quicker. I haven't had much luck. The C-750UZ took better pictures, and I found it to focus much quicker.
I would not recommend this camera to anyone. If the camera is someone's first experience with Olympus, I'm sure they think very little of the company. Olympus makes a good camera, but not this one.
