HAVE GROWN TO LOVE THIS CAMERA
Pros
Great Zoom, hibernates to maximize AA battery life while shooting, produces quality pics
Cons
Eats thru batteries when uploading to PC, not for the person who wants immediate results
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If willing to learn camera, worth the effort; if looking for ease of use select something else.
After the purchase of this camera last year I thought for sure I had thrown my money down the drain. But with months of toying with all the modes (21 programed, there are unlimited customizable options, plus automatic)this is my go to camera of choice when traveling light. I have taken pictures of everything -- from the glaciers in Alberta to the hot sun bouncing off the white beaches of Lake Michigan (not to mention family shots) -- and this camera now always produces top quality shots.
The point I guess I am trying to make is that this camera is not for people who are looking for immediate satisfaction. Based on my experience you will definitely not only need to read the manual, but should bring along a back up camera for those events you truly want pictures of until you have figured out what works best for you.
Also I know a lot of people overlook this camera when making their selection because it is powered by your basic AA. But I say REMEMBER should your batteries die, you can find AAs in just about every country.
Lastly, I do not use the Olympus photo software that came with my camera as I was not happy with the results -- I use Adobe.
Sorry for the mixed review, but I thought you all should know how a long time user felt.
