Nokia 5530 Touch Screen Phone

Pros Good bargain, price for value and durable
Cons Freeze up sometimes by itself
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For those that are tight on budget but would like to have a touch phone, this is among the top choice
My second mobile phone after using Nokia 2100 for more than 5 years.

I bought this model in January 2010, and it have serve me well. It’s not too bulky and fits nicely in my palm, the overall design is nice and sleek and to my liking, which is why I choose this Model over Samsung Corby in the first place.

First off,
The touch screen function
For a budget touch screen phone, it respond fast enough and there are not much problem when trying to key in word using the speed used in Nokia 2100, except for if you suddenly tilted it to the left (only work when tilt to the left side), then the screen will readjust itself, then you will have to wait a few seconds, and sometimes it sort of lags behind when you are keying in words (this condition shows up after around 1 year), the qwerty keyboard is also easy to use. Handwriting recognition is good as long as the writing is readable, but I have trouble when trying to use the handwriting function to write Chinese character as it tends to 'predict' the character too fast. Anyway, the normal inputting system is already sufficient for sms and so on.

Music and sound
Whether on earphone or standalone, the sound that this model produce is more than decent and can act as a music player by itself, even with volume adjust to the highest, it can still maintain the sound quality, fully charge, i had use the phone as mp3 player with ear phone up to at least 4 hours and there are still power left to last through the day. And with a 4gb memory card, u can store up a long list of songs. The model can also tune in to radio station.

Games
The games that comes with the phone is not much, but its compensated by the service that Nokia provide through Nokia Ovi, using the WIFI function of the phone, users can browse through the list of games and software available at Nokia Ovi with ease, and download the ones that are to the liking. By the way, Nokia Ovi's web site have a lot of wares that are free, so users can expand their applications and games without needing to pay, which is a definite thumbs up for Nokia.

Connectivity
Wifi connection, got, Bluetooth connection, got, 3G, NO. The connection of WIFI and Bluetooth is considered good as the phone is made for budget range, the draw back is no 3G, compared to its predecessor, Nokia 5800, which is almost the same in design, just more bulky in size and a bit more expensive.

Camera and Video
3.2 mega pixels, already considered a high resolution for the price at that time. Has auto focus and flash, but the camera is weak is there are not enough lighting in the place where you want to take picture, as the pictures taken will seem yellowish. Apart from that, the camera still works fine and the video recording function is also smooth.

Downside
The phone sometimes freeze up by itself and then auto restart, then its back to normal. A bit laggin sometimes, but these could be due to the way I manage the content of my phone.

I'm still happily using it, although if i have more cash to spend i will follow the trend and go for a I Phone, who wouldn't.
