Elegant and refined hardware that makes your PC feel expensive

Pros Easy setup, bold and classy style, quality tactile feedback, ergonomic.
Cons Some illogical settings by default, multiproduct drivers included, and bland receiver unit.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I recommend this unit for someone who has the money because it feels fancy, and it seems durable. Otherwise, opt for a non-laser mouse version to save.
Past Experience
Previously, I owned a logitech wireless desktop set. I was disappointed with how the wrist pad was loose and flimsy, the keyboard stopped functioning, and much later the mouse became unable to recharge in it's own base for some reason. I got this combo as a christmas present to replace my broken Logitech combo.

Product experience
In the box, you get the wireless laser mouse 6000 with a set of non-rechargeable batteries. The keyboard comes with some as well. There is also a software CD and a wireless transceiver unit that can be connected solely via USB or through PS/2(with included adapter piece) and keyboard ports.

I wondered upon first viewing the keyboard if the keys glow in the dark because of their translucent smoked plastic appearance. They don't glow, but the tones of chrome, grey, and translucent white lend a sophisticated and uncommon look to this set. The wrist pad is firmly attached and non-removable for a sturdy feeling. This pad is a padded vinyl surface that is very comfy to rest your wrists on. The keys on the keyboard respond to soft touches so typing is not tiresome. The ergonomic curve of the board does indeed help to make typing less tiring. Also, the bottom keys are HUMONGOUS in order to help make them easier to strike with your thumb. There are programmable favorites keys, as well as hardcoded keys for web home, calendar, e-mail, messenger, my documents, volume control via buttons or sliding, mute, an in browser text size zoom slider and media control buttons.

The mouse is nice to use because it is substantial with a broad front part for your fingers to rest on. It has two side buttons, L and R click, and a wheel that can click, tilt side to side, and roll forward and back. You can scroll 4 ways with this bad boy! The middle click is set to change between windows by default, but can be set to "middle click" in the software settings for the mouse. The mouse tracks nicely, but I cannot notice much difference between a nice optical mouse and this laser mouse. The only real difference is that the laser responds faster after the mouse has been sitting idle.

The software installs easily after you select your mouse and keyboard from a list of models. Connecting to the base is simple too as with most wireless setups. The software doesn't run any processes of its own, it just integrates into your mouse settings in windows with a bunch of new tabs and features.

The typing sensitivity is superb and light. The mouse feels good in my large hands, and the wheel gives just the right resistance when scrolling...it feels marvelous. The wheel click is different than I'm used to since the force has to be applied at the front of the wheel to make it work.

Likes:
+long range
+indicators for battery and signal strength in the device software menus
+padded wrist area
+ergonomic and oversized keys
+easy to program favorites, and useful shortcut keys
+styling
+durable feel
+ability to tailor mouse functions to each particular program

Dislikes:
-Middle click set to something other than middle click by default
-Middle click requres leverage from the front
-The install software isn't tailored so that you have to hunt for model numbers
-The receiver is a bit large
