Xbox 360 Quick Charge kit - A great addition to your console
Pros
charges quickly, looks great, batteries hold charge for a long time
Cons
Only charges one pack at a time
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If you're a fan of the wireless controllers, the quick charge kit is an excellent complement to your system.
One of the best things about the new Xbox 360 Console is the wireless controllers. And one of the other great things is the Plug & charge kit which allows you to plug in your controller to charge the battery while playing. However, if your battery dies at the end of play and you don't want to leave the controller plugged in to charge it after you shut off your console, another option is the Quick Charger. Does it charge the batteries quickly? Is it a necessary item for Xbox 360 owners?

Like all other things having to do with the console, the design of the charger is sleek and unobtrusive. It looks like an upside down T and the batteries actually fit flush into the charger. At the base of the charger is a thick cord that thankfully, doesn't have one of those large transformer boxes that hogs 3 spots on a power strip.
Included in the box is a rechargeable battery, which is handy since most people who buy this don't already have one. For those of us that do, having an extra one is always a good thing, either for an extra controller or as a backup.
Once the battery dies, simply stick it in the slot and let the charging begin. There is a light at the bottom of the battery slot that lights up red when it's charging and switches to green when done. Ah, but wait, there's more! Order now and you'll get a charger that charges not one, but 2 batteries. In a feat of amazing symmetry, each side of the charger holds a battery pack. So for those of us with 2 packs, we can charge them both. The only drawback is that it doesn't charge both of them at the same time, but one after the other. This effectively doubles the total charge time if you have 2 packs plugged in.
The charge time is roughly the same as using the Play & Charge kit: about an hour and a half. This is a really exceptional charge time. Of course, plug in 2 batteries and you're looking at a 3-4 hour charge time total. Still not bad at all. The other option is simply a set of normal AA rechargeable batteries. My experience shows that a standard charger takes upwards of 6-8 hours to fully charge a set of batteries. As well, a set of rechargeable batteries will set you back almost $8, plus another $15 or so for the charger. All in all, you'd be spending well over $20 for that setup. Might as well shell out a few more bucks for the quick charge kit that does it in half the time.
I've been using the wireless battery packs since launch in 2005. That means I've given them heavy use for 2 years. I've charged and recharged them hundreds of times and I've seen no decrease in the length of charge. I still routinely get 7-8 hours of total play time, depending on the game.
