The Bottom Line:
Good item, good price but not great for true portability
These speakers are for the Sansa-and anyone who owns any mp3 other than an IPOD knows that the speaker/charger options are limited.
I love my Sansa-great item and happy that I did not go with an IPOD. Got these speakers at Xmas time and originally wanted the Altec Lansing Speakers but every place was out of stock. Boy am I glad for that-these Macally Speakers are great. The Macally speakers are half of the price of the other ones and the sound is impressive. They rock the whole upstairs of my home-loud and clear! A good sound for the price.
The speakers do sound a bit off at loud volumes. The bass is deep but not quite deep enough; but again not awful just not as rich as other speakers.
One of the nicest aspect of these speakers is the built in charger for the Sansa. I loaded the Sansa with tons of tunes and now I don't have to keep charging it on the computer-I just put it place it on the Macally and it gets charged each night.
Now these speakers are portable. They are light and could easily be moved about but they do not have a battery backup so you would need to have an electrical outlet which sort of takes away from the portability factor in my opinion. Since I did not plan on being portable beyond my back yard this is not a problem for me but from someone seeking to take these speakers to the beach or someplace else this might be a big drawback.
