An expensive mouse..
Pros
Excellent construction. Good ergonomics. Best button clicks of any mouse I've used.
Cons
EXPENSIVE! No second thumb button. Less than perfect software.
Recommended it?

The Bottom Line:
If you don't mind paying extra, it really is a good mouse.
I bought the G5 laser mouse as a replacement for my Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer optical mouse. The initial feel is excellent. The mouse is solid and doesn't have as much body flex as the MS mice. The glide pads really do make the mouse feel a lot smoother. I don't really like the gritty looking color scheme of the mouse, but it does go well with my computer setup though, so I can't complain too much.
The left/right mouse clicks are short and precise. The thumb button is solid with a good amount of tension. None of the issues with accidently pressing the button as I had with the older IntelliMice that had the large, flat, and loose thumb buttons. However, a second forward button would have been great, but I've managed to live without it. After all, it probably was one of the least used buttons on my 2-thumb-button mice.
The scroll wheel is very good. The detents are a lot more pronounced with more tension so that scrolling is a lot more deliberate as compared to the MS mice. As other reviewers have noted, the scroll wheel as a button isn't the best. It has a fairly long click stroke and you're never really sure when it's going to click. However, I suppose the good thing about it is that you are very unlikely to accidently click the wheel when scrolling.
The weight cartridge pack is pretty cool! I like a very heavy mouse, and you can definately setup your mouse from the lightest to the heaviest mouse on the market.
I'm not actually a gamer, I just wanted an excellent mouse for general productivity. I find most of the extra resolution settings are pretty useless for everyday use. I have stuck with using the intermediate default resolution, and can't find any need to mess with it anymore.
The software for the mouse is pretty bad too. I found that some of the functionality of the mouse stopped working after I installed the software. The buttons didn't respond the way I programmed them with the software. I uninstalled the software and the mouse runs absolutely fine on the standard mouse drivers in Windows. You lose a few features of the mouse without the software (you don't get to set custom resolutions, and you only get 3 possible settings instead of 5 unless you have the software installed). However, I don't mind.
