Nice but not good for flight simulator

Pros Good features, good button locations (right handed only though).
Cons Unacceptable lack of precision for flight simulation.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Nice overall, but not suitable for flight simulation.
I bought the joystick for flight simulation and was quite disappointed. On the good side, it has more buttons than my MS Precision Pro and it has force feedback, which is a nice feature. I can't speak for how well the force feedback works as this was my only force feedback joystick I ever tried.
After experiencing problems being able to precisely control the plane, I turned on the raw data display and noticed a couple of things:
1. The Logitech force 3d pro went by increments of 5 to 10 when moving the joystick forward and back, which is a low precision compared to 1 to 2 that I observed with the Microsoft joystick.
2. The Logitech joystick develops a gap right around the point when you move your hand back and forth - it doesn't have to be the center point. The minute back and forth movement, which is required for precision flying, creates the gab which is reflected in raw data by jumping by 30 to even over 50 points. (BTW the points are 1/1000 in the range of -1.000 to +1.000). This in effect does not allow you precisely control your rate of climb or descent.
The above flaw basically renders the joystick useless for any serious flight sim.
For other games, where you bang the yoke back and forth rapidly or to its extremes the problem probably doesn't matter and you will fine it a cool piece of equipment.
(of course, drivers upgraded and everything up to date and all - was running it with Vista and X-plane)
Although I don't believe this is a defect, I will give it the benefit of the doubt and exchange it. I will amend this post if anything changes
