Great iPod speaker system for the money
Pros
Great Sound, Fits many iPods. Solid construction.
Cons
Limited control of iPod through the remote. iPod doesn't fit snug. Wire antenna.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If you want a great little speaker system for the iPod and you can get it for under $80. Don't hesitate to buy it.
The Logitech AudioStation is an outstanding bookshelf/desk speaker system for the price (under $80). I got mine for $29 after rebates from TigerDirect. It is not a portable speaker system as some might think. It is very sturdy / solid and will stay put on that desk or bookshelf. It must be plugged into a wall outlet (no battery).
The Good:
You can change the Bass and Treble. It comes with 10 adapters that fit just about every iPod. It comes with fabric speaker grilles that are removable if you want to see the tweeter and woofer. The treble is crisp and the bass is deep from the 80 watt amplifiers. The back has a connections for a 3.5mm aux input so you can plug other audio devices into it (it could be used as a PC speaker system using the aux input, but you can play your iPod through the speakers at the same time). There is a RCA video out for viewing on a TV.
The Bad:
You can't control all iPod menus from the remote, meaning you still have to use the clickwheel. That leads to another problem. I'm using the recommended adapter for my iPod (the AudioStation comes with 10 adapters), but my iPod still has a little "give" backwards when using the clickwheel. I keep wondering if the connector is going to snap one day or it will ruin the connector in my iPod. The antenna is a wire antenna that is quite long and plugs into the back like a speaker wire. Since I have my AudioStation in the open on my desk, it kind of looks junky.
What could be better:
It would have been nice if this system doubled as a dock for the PC, but it doesn't. I have mine setting on the computer desk, so I still have to keep my other iPod dock just to sync with iTunes.
