The Bottom Line:  Logitech's G51 Surround Sound Speaker System is great for gamers and those who listen to music or watch tv/movies on their computers.
After the set of speakers on one of our computers went bad, we were pretty much forced into buying new ones.  We wanted to watch cost while still getting good speakers, since we spend a lot of our free time gaming and watching old TV shows online.  Once much research  was done, it was decided upon to purchase the Logitech G51 Surround Speaker System.

The Logitech G51 Surround Speaker System consists of 5 speakers (4 satellite speakers and one center speaker) the subwoofer and a control pod.  Total RMS power is 155 watts, total peak power is 310 watts.  The 4 satellite speakers are 20 watts RMS each.  The center speaker is 19 watts RMS.  The subwoofer is 56 watts RMS.  The frequency response is 36 Hz to 20 KHz, and the subwoofer crossover frequency is 150 Hz.  There is a stereo RCA input on the subwoofer in addition to the standard PC inputs as well.  All speakers have a screw slot on the bottom so that they can be mounted.  All of the speakers are mostly black, with some silver-toned areas, while the subwoofer is all black.

Dimensions for this system are as follows, in height, width, and depth:
4 satellite speakers (each): 4.2" X 5.6" X 8.5"
center speaker 8.0" X 3.9" X 5.6"
subwoofer: 7.7" X 10.4" X 13.1"

The best thing about the Logitech G51 Surround Speaker System is the control pod, which is a wired remote control.  It controls more than standard power and volume.  It allows you to set master volume, sub volume, surround volume, and center volume all separately.  The control pod also has a headphone jack and a microphone jack.  There's also two mute buttons; one for the speakers and one for the microphone.  The control pod also allows you to switch between 3 modes: gaming matrix, music matrix, and normal mode.  It's really quite cool, and easy to use.  The buttons are labeled clearly.  The main volume is a large round knob in the center, then the other setting buttons are located on both sides.  Another nice part about these speakers is they have good non-slip silicone grips on the bottoms so if you don't want to mount them, they stay put on your desk.  We don't currently have them mounted, and the grips work well on our wooden desk.  Yet another good point is we found that the cable lengths are longer than what we need.  Some reviews about this product stated that the cables were too short, but there seems to be no need to place the speakers all the way out to the corners of the room to get good surround sound.  Even on a cluttered desk where they aren't even aligned properly, the surround sound is pretty good.

Upon first hearing these speakers after we set them up, we were quite pleased.  The sound was clear and crisp.  Our speakers are hooked into onboard sound rather than using any special sound card, and the sound quality is great (the motherboard used with our speakers is MSI K9A Platinum).  The different modes make for some great gaming, music, or movie watching. These speakers can get quite loud, but they still maintain their clarity.  As for the surround sound part, nothing short of its name there.  It delivers that true surround feeling.

The only bad things to note: One is that sometimes you may lose some sounds when the matrix mode is on, but the matrix modes are only meant to take 2 channel sound up to 5.1 channel sound.  What sounds you lose depends on how the sound channels are coded.  The second is only the center speaker can be adjusted vertically.

Logitech's website lists this speaker system at $199.99.  We bought ours off of Amazon.com, used, at $101.98 with shipping and handling.  They came in like-new condition. The Logitech G51 Surround Speaker System is definatly worth what we paid, and if you are willing to pay it, is worth what Logitech's asking price is.  You can also find them on Newegg.com, so shop around.
