The Bottom Line:
Buy this product. It is affordable, and very easy to use.
After upgrading for another Linksys router (Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router), I have never had an ounce of trouble from this product. You simply have to plug the router in, plug the RJ-45 wire from the modem device to the router, set your internet connection
to automatically connect to it in your internet options. If you previously had a Linksys router, there's a good chance that you will have to do nothing at all. I merely had to connect my Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router to the modem, and wait a minute for the computer to recognize it.
The Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router is one of the easiest routers I've ever used. I get decent signal from most of my 6600 sq. ft. home, all of my wireless and wifi configured devices easily connect to the Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router, and it doesn't require constant resetting like some other brands of routers.
I've set up several Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router's for several people. The only problem I've ever had connecting to the Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router is when third party connection programs fail to recognize the the WRT54G2 does not have to be configured for WEP or WPA security. Some programs will refuse to connect to it because the security is not set up. It will take you some juggling, but can usually be coerced into connecting.
The Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router only needs the upgraded security if the owner lives in an area where neighbors, or other people, are within range of the router. For those who live in a large house surrounded by a few aces of land, the option can be left off. If the security features are turned on, and the router's buyer forgets the settings/password, the device can be easily reset to original factory settings.
To change any of the settings in the Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router, from the factory defaults, you will only have to type in the router's IP address into your browser, and the default password (usually 'admin' with Linksys products). From there you simply click the tab for the options you need to change. Again, if you make a mistake, you just have to hold down the reset pin for about thirty seconds to restore the router to its original factory settings.
