Use the brick Luke!!!

Pros cute charecters and comic skits
Cons It's really really easy and short.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I always wanted to go on murderous spree through the wickett villiage.
I rented Lego Star Wars the original trilogy because I was interested in trying it out, I heard the original Lego Star Wars was quite good so I decided why not. Well after playing it is Lego Stars worth the hype.

Story.
Lego Star Wars takes it's cues from the original trilogy following the saga of up and coming Jedi Luke Skywalker. While it does follow the movies plot don't expect it to be series, Lego Star Wars is the silliest take on the saga since Space Balls. Slap stick things like Leia having trouble giving the secret documents to R2-D2 in the A New Hope, to Luke having a little to much fun with the trampoline during the battle against Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi. The only bad thing is there is no dialog spoken or written rather it's all pantomime, hope you've brushed up your knowledge on the original trilogy before you play it.

Graphics.
The graphics are rather cartoonish and taking the license pretty much everything is Lego. Not only do your characters resemble the little plastic men from the children's toy line so do the ships and the environments. You can see the plastic Lego nubs stick out from the star destroys and the death star. As for the main game the animation is pretty good and even the battles have a comic hedge to them. Character attacks including a b!tch slapping Princess Leia to Chewbacca showing the storm troopers why you should always let the Wookie win.

Sound.
We have all the major background music from the movies present in the games. The Star Wars theme to Darth Vaders theme and several others make there appearance in the game adding to the star wars feels. The blaster sound effects and the light saber sound effects from the movie are also in the game. As said there is not voice acting when there is dialogue for a scene the Lego character spits out muffled gibberish.

Gameplay.
The gameplay is rather simple for the most part and it's aimed at the primary age group for Legos, kids. For example while it only takes 4 mere hits to kill a character, dying will only cause you to loose a few coins and you start at the same spot that you start out with. And you can pick up the coins you lost ala Sonic the Hedgehog style. So basically it's impossible to die or really loose. But don't think that Lego Star Wars doesn't have any good game play to it because it does have some good if rather simple puzzles to it.

To start off with each character or group of characters have there own abilities. You have the gunners which is the majority of the people they fire laser beams and can use hook cables. You have droids R2-D2 and C3P0 which have no attack and can't even jump but are needed to open special doors, expect a good many puzzles extending on getting them around obstacles. And then you have the Jedi who use light sabers and can double jump and use the force to help manipulate obstacles.

You will be switching between several characters in a stage to get various jobs done in order to move around. Next to the special abilities you will also find your self shooting and blowing up as much of the scenery as possible. Not only to collect coins to help your jedi meteor and to buy extra stuff but sometimes this will reveal the Lego bricks needed to build something to solve a puzzle. Occasionally you will find a heap of unassembled Lego bricks and by holding X your character will quickly assemble something. Could be a bridge, a switch, or a disco room for Jabba the hutts barge (don't ask).

Despite some good puzzles the game is relatively short coming under the 10 hour mark for the main story. But they do have plenty of extras including a free play mode where you can play through stages with any character you want. As well has a character customizer where you can build your own character. Say Greeto head on slave Leia's body with Chewbacca's bow for example.

There are also thing in the stages that will need to be found and collected to unlock extra stuff as well as getting a true Jedi rank in each stage. The true jedi rank is obtained by collecting a certain amount of coins in each stage so some exploring and extra blasting will be required to reach this rank.

Final Recommendation.
Lego Star Wars is a relatively short game aimed at young players and beginners there is enough humors though that an adult star wars lover will find amusing plus a lot of replay value for those who like to get 100% on all there games. Still it's short and really easy so I recommend a rental and waiting for it to hit the 20 dollars or lower limit before a purchase.
