Pros Excellent zoom, great picture quality, variety of settings
Cons Short battery life, expensive batteries
Recommended it? Yes

Let me start by saying I love taking pictures. I consider myself a pretty decent, though amateur, photographer. I also believe a photographer is only as good as his or her camera.

My Kodak EasyShare Z8612 IS is a replacement for my CyberShot. I gave that one to my 13 year old... Read full review »

Point and Shoot Upgrade With Problems

bymgbland Aug 23, 2008
12 Helpfuls 13 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros 12X Optical Zoom. 3 x 3 Grid
Cons Terrible strap, and lens cap isn't secure.
Recommended it? No

I checked out this camera in order due to the high optical zoom. Most point and shoot cameras have only 3X optical Zoom. So, I was interested to see what this camera offered.

The first thing I noticed was the lens cap leash. So, I was happy to see I wasn't likely to lose the lens cap... Read full review »

Pros Fast picture speed, Great clear picture, Movie function was great.
Cons Memory Card Versitility, Light levels in Video mode, popping up flash
Recommended it? No

Ok, I had this camera for 18 days and was great. Lots of functions which reminded me of my old manual Pentax film camera.

Problem is it stopped working. Would not power up all of a sudden. This could have been an isolated case. Kodak has a great name and I have family members who have Kodak... Read full review »

Don't buy this camera!!

Pros Great pix, big LCD
Cons Eats high end batteries by the case
Recommended it? No

I made the mistake of buying this camera sight unseen and without reading the reviews.

First, the good:  takes wonderful pictures.  I had an olympus 3.2mp 10x optical zoom camera.  this one beats it in all modes I've tried including the super macro setting for ultra close ups.

Pros Easy to Use, Excellent Picture Quality, Lightweight
Cons Short Battery Life, Shutter Lag, No Viewfinder
Recommended it? Yes

The Kodak Z8612is is a great little high-zoom digital camera, but that's about it.
After using this camera for a few weeks, learning it's in's and out's, I'm quite disappointed. I really expected a lot from Kodak since they DO make photography supplies and such. Overall this is a good... Read full review »

This camera is the best that I have owned. I purchased it because of good reviews on Consumer Reports and I have not regretted it. I first used it at a concert that I brought my daughter to and we were very far away. I couldnt believe the quality of the photos. It has been great now for about 2... Read full review »

Have used better and cheaper

Pros Lightweight
Cons Short Battery Life, Shutter Lag
Recommended it? No

I bought this thinking it would be my last camera purchase, due to the over blown description given from where I bought it, oo.com...the battery life is very short and expensive due to only being able to use lithium, shutter speed lags, it shuts down and refuses to work till it rests!..so all it...
