The Bottom Line:

Let's put it out there right away
. I've been a huge fan of Kenwood head units since I first saw one installed over 15 years ago. This is my 4th Kenwood head unit and my first dabble in mobile video or navigation.
I'm past the phase of the booming system so when I sold my truck I removed all the components and let them lye on the garage floor for a couple of weeks while I decided if I really wanted all that in my new truck. "All that" defined as 2 12's, Sirius, 400 watt 4 channel amp for the doors and 800 watts going to two 12" subs and the iPod integration unit.
Looking at my options, I primarily wanted iPod integration (FM transmitters are unacceptable) and I was undecided about navigation since I've been in Vegas for 19 years I kind of know my way around.
I started looking around at a couple of iPod integration options as well as Sirius options since I missed both in my ride. Looking at my available options I was left with little in the way of solid integration into my factory HU. I could go with a portable Sirius unit but then I have to have a gadget hanging around my dash which is something I wanted to avoid. Same with the iPod, I could get the HK system but then I have to install a thing on my dash and a knob on my consol. Let's not talk about the cost of a Ford Sirius receiver and the HK iPod unit I was almost half way to the cost of other options that provided much more functionality with less clutter.
So enough with why, now let's review ..
Overall, I'm very happy with this unit (important note I've only had it installed for 4 days at the time of this writing).
To be fair and accurate let's break this review into different groups:
Overall HU: Overall the menus are very well created and the GUI is easy to learn and navigate.
The screen is crisp and I can see that this HU would work great with a multi-monitor setup.
Sound quality is strong thanks to the amount of tweeking you can do with the numerous sound options that are available to you.
The remote is effective and has pretty good distance. I can stand at the back of my truck and control the unit from the outside.
You can view photos from a disc as sort of a slide show. I was using some pretty hi-res files and the display time was a little slower than I thought it should be.
The Sirius controls are solid with the ability to preview other stations.
The Kenwood iPod adapter could still deliver more in my opinion. Basically it treats your iPod as a 10 disc changer only giving you the ability to scroll through 10 playlists. I have 3,650 songs on my iPod and about 28 playlists so 10 doesn't quite work for me.
I purchased my system as a package with the KNA-G510 navigation unit. The menus and directions are quick to display and I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the system pointed to an alternate route when I missed a turn.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this product Kenwood once again proved to me that I should keep buying their product as they don't disappoint.
