Beware! Epson is Deceptive!

byjoannabenz Mar 30, 2007
15 Helpfuls 16 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great text, incredible negative scanning, good general scanning, good copier
Cons Epson tries to FORCE consumers to turn to them for ink cartridges and unnecessary repairs.
Recommended it? No

I've had my RX600 for 3 years. In general, it does all it claims and does it well. No problems with my LCD, perhaps because I've always used a power conditioner to prevent surges and brownouts.

1. Problem with ink cartridges -- Even if you only print 1 color page per week, after a few... Read full review »

Epson Is A Quality Product!

byrmjohn Feb 27, 2007
15 Helpfuls 16 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Exceptional quality prints, Excellent color copier and scanner, Numerous memory card...
Cons Replacement ink cartridges are a racket but that goes for all ink jets.
Recommended it? Yes

After reviewing the multitude of recently negative comments about this printer I felt compelled to share my experience with it. This is the second Epson printer that I've owned and the first one gave me about six years of trouble free service. When I gave it away after acquiring the RX600 it was... Read full review »

All in One with Benefits and More

byjustinsdaddy Jul 4, 2004

Pros Easy to Use, Super HIGH Quality, Small footprint
Cons None to speak of
Recommended it? Yes

Epson is, in my opinion, one of the best brands of printers you can buy. The RX-600 replaced my prior HP 7550 Photo Smart. It has exceeded my expectations with beautiful scanning capabilities and excellent print quality. In fact I put it side by side up to the HP, and hated to admit it only because... Read full review »

The longer I have it, the less I like it

Pros Impressive photo printer. Built in card reader is convenient. Compact.
Cons Worthless Economy mode. Slow text printing. Uses ink quickly. Poor replacement policy.
Recommended it? No

I have been very disappointed with my RX600 printer. As time goes on, I find more and more reasons to feel that way.

First, the print quality... Let me say up front: I don't print photos very often. It is just not economical. The photos I have printed on this machine were impressive... Read full review »

LED light failed on TWO machines!

byjanesprando Sep 14, 2006
11 Helpfuls 12 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros The all-in-one functions and photo printing.
Cons The LED light burns out with no warning and too expensive to fix. Expensive ink.
Recommended it? No

I bought the RX600 because I wanted a printer that had all the functions in one. The price was right with 2 rebates ---$200.00 It does an outstanding job printing photos. However, I haven't mastered the software that came with the Epson, so I reverted to Photo Shop.

The first time the LED... Read full review »

My First and LAST Epson Product (updated)

Cons Frustrating and cumbersome to use, if one color cartridge runs out, can't print in...

I've rarely been so disappointed and frustrated with a product as I am with the Epson Stylus PHOTO RX600 printer I purchased about a year ago. I thought I'd done my homework prior to purchasing the printer. I read the reviews and ratings of a variety of all-in-one printers in a "leading consumer... Read full review »

I'm in big trouble with the boss

bytram409 Jul 25, 2006
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Clear printing, nice photo clarity and color.
Cons Too many steps to accomplish simple tasks. LCD has a history of going bad.
Recommended it? No

I convinced my boss to buy this printer because I had an Epson scanner at home that I felt was the best out there. Never had a problem with it, scanned beautiful pics, etc. So it only made sense (ha!) that their all-in-one printer would be just as good.

While theoretically this printer... Read full review »

A poor investment

bygearlocker Dec 21, 2004
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good photocopying from scan or file.
Cons mediocre to poor scanning and printing capabilities. Uses ink at an incredible rate.
Recommended it? No

Beyond the fact that it prints quality pictures, I have been generally dissatisified with the PHOTO RX600. As a printer, it is slow to start a printjob: first there is a long silence, then just when you think it's lost the job (which occasionally happens) it clunks and whirrs loudly a few times,... Epson RX600 - Great photo printer and scanner, but lousy overall printer

bywhitebrian Dec 13, 2004
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Fantastic photo quality - best I have seem from an ink jet, beautiful scans
Cons Prints text very slowly, takes ~30 seconds to boot
Recommended it? No

The RX600 prints fantastic photos that look as good as photos from a lab. The fast scanner produces excellent quality scans from both paper and negatives.

The printer has six separate ink cartridges that are inexpensive to replace, $13 each for the five color cartridges and $18 for the... Read full review »

Printer for a year - only, Should be recalled

byforvr Oct 24, 2006
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros nice picture quality, while it works.
Cons Won't turn on
Recommended it? No

We liked it, mostly while it worked, but shortly after the warranty ran out,it stopped turning on. It is totally useless, and Epson won't do anything about it. They are obviously aware of the problem. So if you only want a printer for a year, this is a pretty good one, but after that, it is only a... Read full review »
