This camera is perfect for the professional photographer and beginners. It offers a full frame 36 x 24 CMOS sensor (35 mm frame size) with 16.7 megapixels that enable for superior dynamic range to capture subtle variations in shadow. CMOS sensors have a long track record for resulting in award winning cameras of superior quality.
It shoots frames fast at 4 frames per shot for up to 36 consecutive shots, which makes it great for modeling shoots and trying to capture that perfect moment. With the WFT-E1 wireless transmitter it allows for transmission of images directly to a server. The pictures that are a result of this camera are brilliantly true to color and it is definitely up to standard having enough resolution capability to transform files into 50 MB uncompressed TIFF at 24 bit color depth, an absolute necessity among photography agencies.
It is also compatible with over 50 EF lenses from 14 mm to 1200 mm including image stabalizer lenses, macro, tilt-shift and super telephoto. The Auto Rotation is a big plus for images shot vertically. Images are automatically rotated when played back into the LVD monitor. This camera can bring out fine detail in subjects and reduce false color using its low-pass filter built into the Megapixel resolution sensor.
The Digic II processor inside produces 0.3 sec start up time, fast continuous shooting capable of simultaneous RAW and JPEG recording. Displays 100% of JPEG images, easy to use text menus, five brightness settings, extended zoom displays, and RGB Histogram to check color information.The fact that a camera of this size has so many of these capabilities is astonishing and the design is superb. I was extremely pleased to find out that all of the system settings for the camera could be saved on a memory card and shared with multiple cameras and images can be recorded simultaneously with the duel card slot for added security and protection from lost or damaged work.
This camera also has a handy video out terminal for viewing images on your television screen and a USB port for connection to computers or printers. The EOS-1Ds Mark II has a magnesium alloy shell that is dust proof and waterproof for shooting in different weather conditions.
