The Bottom Line:
This is a wonderful router, very easy to use and powerful. I'd recommend 100%
I am very happy with this router. I purchased my DIR-655 about a month ago to replace a 16 year old US Robotics 4 port router and Trendnet AP and am very happy with my decision
Features:Gigabit network speedsWireless G/N compatibleExcellent coverageShareport technology
Setup was very simple whether you do it manually or with the provided disc, just pop in the disc, click a few buttons, and your done.
The shareport feature is an absolutely awesome feature. Shareport is a USB port on the router that allows you to create a 'network device' allowing you to share a printer, flash drive, or external HDD across your network. I have yet to use this feature, but having a centralized point such as this with an external HDD lets you 'cheat' your way into having your own NAS (Network Attached Storage) that can be accessed by anyone.
The range on this router is amazing and I actually have to reduce the power from the antennas, it is great for entire household coverage, but I can also pick up a signal from clear across my street which goes through about 6 walls and had I not password protected my network (WPA2) I could provide wireless internet to about 8 homes around me. I still check my logs every now and then to make sure no one else is enjoying my internet without me knowing.
The web interface is wonderful, it is very informative with easy access to many settings including blocking specific websites, ports, packet management which can allow you to set a priority for certain computers/programs.
Also, this is a D-link green product so feel good about conserving electricity and helping save the environment.
