The Future, in a Neat Silver Case

Pros Lovely color TFT LCD screen, voice recorder, nice built-in applications
Cons Exorbitant cost
Recommended it? Yes

With the introduction of the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC H3670, pocket-size PDA computers are finally beginning to become less like pocket organizers and more like computers. Don't get me wrong here -- I do indeed have a Palm III, and it's still very useful for many things. But can I do all the things on... Read full review »

Compaq redefines Compact

bycoffeeaddict Apr 11, 2001
157 Helpfuls 158 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros smaller than other Win CE devices, fast and packed full of features
Cons expensive and larger than devices running the Palm OS.
Recommended it? Yes

The Compaq H3670 is one of the newer Win CE handhelds on the market. This review will try to highlight some of the features of this unit and talk about things that you can?t necessarily find on the spec sheets. Each function will be looked into and then a comparison with other handhelds on the... Read full review »

Cons Too expensive, no on-board expansion slot

Being a long time Palm user, I recently went out and bought the new m505 color handheld and was so impatient to get it, that I paid an extra $50 to a high priced company that had it in stock before anyone else. BIG MISTAKE!

I'm not going to make this an opinion on the Palm m505, but for... Read full review »

Pros A LOT of functionality and a LOT of memory
Cons Not yet perfect...but closer than any PDA
Recommended it? Yes

Preface:
Given the large number of very thorough reviews, I will not do a formal write-up of the IPaq's features and programs. This review will be more of a 'straight-from-the-hip' discussion of my experiences.

I had previously owned the 32mb model and have upgraded to the 64mb 3670... Read full review »

Between a Palm & a Laptop

byCriticalAndy Apr 18, 2001
14 Helpfuls 15 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Stylish, Voice Recording Capable, Powerful, Color TFT LCD Screen, Compaq Name
Cons Heavy Pricetag
Recommended it? Yes

I've owned two Compaq computers in the past, and both excelled, so I decided to splurge on a compact Compaq if you will. All my friends own Palm Pilots, which to them are useful, but they lack the capabilities of a computer. Lugging around a laptop is a tedious feat, and an unnecessary one for my... Read full review »

The BEST Handheld. iPAQ 3670

byjediad Aug 11, 2001
11 Helpfuls 12 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros A whole PC computer in your Pocket. Color, Screen, Memory, Flexibility
Cons Battery, 4096 colors, controls for games
Recommended it? Yes

Okay, I'm a major handheld user since the Sharp Wizard to the Palm's to Pocket PC. I had a Casio EM500 and was very happy with it, but after realizing that 16MB Ram is not enough and also not able to view in direct sunlight, I made the switch to iPAQ. Also, the Casio EM500 screen got stuck and have... Read full review »

Pros Great screen, expandable, laptop replacement, Windows OS
Cons Short battery life, questionable durability, large size, Windows OS
Recommended it? Yes

I'm a hardcore gadget freak and this is one gadget that has definitely taken over my life. I'm constantly finding more things for which I can use the iPAQ. And why not, it's more capable than my Palm and more portable than my laptop. I received the iPAQ 3670 from work for purposes of testing... Read full review »

PACK AN IPAQ FOR DAILY USE

bylikestech Dec 2, 2001
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros LIGHT, THIN, 64 MB RAM, EASY TO USE.
Cons STILL REQUIRES CLUNKY SLEEVES, NO FACE COVER
Recommended it? Yes

Frankly, I cannot avoid saying it; I pack my IPAQ everywhere I go! Was that cheesy? Sorry, but this is supposed to be fun AND informative. I own the IPAQ 3765. But, before I begin gushing about why like this thing, I will address a couple of issues that get overlooked in some PDA reviews.

Great Platform for Microsoft Application Developers

byjaymend May 18, 2001
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Expandability is unmatched; Microsoft's Development tools for it are free (for now).
Cons Expensive; IPAQ 3650 is a better buy; Short battery life.
Recommended it? Yes

I have been developing a prototype real-time app for WinCE on a client's 3650 and on my own 3670 for the past month. The original program ran on a Windows 2000 powered laptop. I have successfully ported this application to run on the IPAQ 3600 series PocketPCs using Microsoft's free (for now)... Read full review »
