One of the most interesting high-tech product developments of recent years is the ultra-compact digital camera and Canon has pretty much dominated that very popular market niche since the first Digital Elph micro-cams hit store shelves. Canon's newest Digital Elph, the Powershot SD550, provides 7... Read full review »

We love taking digital photos, and we're always prepared for wherever we go. My husband and I like to have something compact and convenient. Since we already have a Canon D20, a fairly large camera, it was only natural that we wanted to have a smaller camera on hand. This camera was introduced in... Read full review »

After having a generally positive experience with the 7.1-Megapixel Canon PowerShot SD500, I bought the Canon PowerShot SD550 with 2.5-inch LCD screen. The pleasant surprise was the fact that I paid less for it than I did for the SD500: $380. I paid $401 for the SD500, but it now can be bought for... Read full review »

Cons Bad colors, underexposed shots, prints look "flat", soft LCD screen.

I am a fan of Canon's point and shoots. I've used a S2 IS and Power Shot A85 with much success. I like how those cameras render color and appear sharp. The SD550 was a different story.

My parents purchased this camera for Christmas last year. Just like many other brands of cameras...the... Read full review »

When I was looking for an upgrade to my Canon Elph 2.1mp camera I decided to stick with Canon. I chose the SD550 for it's resolution and compact size. So far so good, I really like the compactness of the camera with the quality photos. It's great for traveling. Read full review »

I bought this camera for my parents/family over a year ago, and we are still using it. It has many features that don't come standard with many cameras even today.

Face Tracking: Even though one camera company is claiming to have just recently found this technology, the SD550 has been... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use and takes great pictures and video.
Cons Have not found any so far.

I had read an earlier review where someone stated the camera did not work with their Mac. I have a newer MacBook and my camera works very well with my Mac. In fact, it works better with my Mac than it did with my PC. The upload time is shorter and the pictures have a neat scrolling feature.

The best small digital camera you can buy!! I spent hours researching and testing. Won't repeat all the positives already stated by others.

What I want to do is inform you about a misconception regarding megapixels (high vs low).

You may decide to buy a less expensive camera... Read full review »

I have had mine for 2 years now. It has been to Africa and Asia and the Caribbean. It is the best camera I have ever owned. It does a great job taking stills.
