The Bottom Line:
The Canon EOS 50D is the best DLSR I've had since I started buying digital cameras!
The Canon EOD 50D is a great camera! I bought one when I started my photography business 2 years ago and it hasn't missed a beat yet! It is a great camera for someone who is familiar with how DLSR's work and knows how to use the camera in the various programming & manual modes. However, it still works great in "automatic" mode but will perform a lot better if you know how to set the ISO, shutter speed etc. Since it is a Canon, you can interchange any of the lenses that Canon makes! The battery life is really long and will discharge quicker if you use the flash a lot. The speed of the camera is really good and it was a huge step up from my former Canon Rebel XTI. It has a 3" LCD screen which makes reviewing your pictures very easy. It can also be hooked up directly to your computer or TV for picture viewing slideshows. Perfect camera if you want to take sports or action photos or if you just have really fast moving children since it takes 6.3 frames per second! It does not take HD video, for that you would have to buy the Canon 60D or the newest of the Canon Rebels that do take video. However, I have friends who decided to go the Nikon route and are very disappointed and wish that they had bought a Canon instead!
