Canon CanoScan LiDE 60 Flatbed Scanner: Budget conscious functionality and speed

byGr8ful Sep 23, 2005

Pros Lightweight, compact, high quality images, no extra power adapter.
Cons None.
Recommended it? Yes

The CanoScan LiDE 60 scanner is a nice replacement for an old Mustek 600E III that I hadn't used since October of 2000 when I upgraded to Windows XP. The old Mustek was a parallel port scanner and there was no driver for Windows XP that would work. I was given a CanoScan LiDE 30 for Christmas two... Read full review »

Cannon CanoScan LiDE 60: Trouble-Free Performance at a Good Price

Pros Easy to use. Good performance, especially for the price.
Cons Lid falls shut too easily.

The Good

First and foremost, the CanoScan has been very easy for me to use. I'm neither a technophobe nor a computer whiz. But I definitely don't want to have to muck about trying to make something play nice with my computer. Getting the CanoScan set up was a breeze. All I had to do was... Read full review »

Pros Looks good, easy to get up and running, great results, space saving.
Cons None as yet, touch wood.
Recommended it? Yes

I recently purchased a canon scanner for my husband's birthday. When trying to decide which model and make to buy I took into consideration the price, size, style and, more than anything, the specifications. We did also want something which was easy and quick to get up and running and was suitable... Read full review »

Canoscan LiDE 60...should be Canoscan LIED

Pros The box has nice artwork and a cute handle.
Cons Slow, poor quality scanning, low-utility software, software freezes consistently, invalid...
Recommended it? No

I've been working with computers for around thirty years and have not seen any gear as spectacularly underwhelming as the Canon Canoscan LiDE 60. I'd read good reviews on the LiDE 500, but couldn't find it in stock at CompUSA, BestBuy, Office Depot, or Circuit City, so I thought the LiDE 60 would... Read full review »

Nice choice for general home and small office use

Pros Small, nice design, very good scan quality, fast, low price, no power cord
Cons Scan software not easy to use. Limited to letter / A4 scans

The context

I bought this scanner as a replacement for my HP 4470 scanner whose lamp went out after only three years of not really intensive duty. After spending one hour or so on HP web site and phone support service, I figured out it would be easier and faster to buy a new low price... Read full review »

Paperless home made easy

byboliston Feb 5, 2006

Pros Fast, produces searchable PDF
Cons A bit noisy during low res scans when the head moves faster
Recommended it? Yes

I've had this scanner a couple of weeks now and the main use is to convert all my bills, letters and suchlike to "paperless" format.

I like the way that it will scan directly to a "searchable" PDF file, and the "text enhanced" scan setting works a treat for this. It will let you rotate... Read full review »

Loved this scanner but...

Pros Decent quality scans. Almost portable
Cons Poor power provided therefore scanner can fail needing to be re-started
Recommended it? Yes

This scanner is inexpensive, lightweight and easy to use. This image quality is fine. However, scanning at anything higher than around 200dpi, the scanner is slow or even fails and looses its connection to the computer and needs to be re-started / installed.

Canon claimed it was because... Read full review »

I am very happy with this scanner!

Pros Low price but seems well made. It's nice not needing a separate power supply.
Cons The scanning software is a bit lame. I like using another better.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this scanner about 6 months ago for around $70 with a $10 rebate. I use on average about 20 times a week. I've started an on-going project of scanning in old photos from our photo albums so that they will be forever protected. I've scanned about four albums in so far with no problems... Nice Scanner

Pros USB Powered, good quality scans
Cons OS X users are used to much nicer software than this
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this to replace an aging agfa scanner. It is quiet, small, has the four buttons on the front which are handy and the main reason I bought it was because it is powered by the USB connection! It also works well with my Mac running OS 10.4.2

The only downside is the poor... Read full review »

Pros High quality, inexpensive, easy to use
Cons Colors other than gray would be nice :) Otherwise, none!

When our old scanner went out on us, I began to look around for a replacement and this was recommended to me by a friend. I purchased it and love it.

It scans full page documents quickly. It scans photos with great detail. It's slim and sleek. It also comes with a vertical stand so you... Read full review »
