If you want a scanner, Read this first.
I actually got this scanner for Christmas this year. I wanted this model because of several things. Size, Scan Resolution, USB and least importantly it just plain looks cool.
It is only about 1" tall, 14" Deep and 10" Wide. You only have to hook the 1 USB cable to it for power and data...

Canon 1220U is amazingly small and light
When I first opened the box, I was astonished at how slim and light the scanner is. How could Canon possibly make a quality scanner so sleek? Even though the scanner is very small and light, it is not flimsy. The construction is actually good quality.

Good home scanner
This scanner is very convenient with it's single USB cable hook-up design. There is no power cable. Another thing that makes this scanner nice is the size of it. UPDATE- 10 Dec 07 - Just hooked up the old CanoScan to the new Acer Laptop with Vista home basic. I had to manually extract the drivers (Vista kept giving me errors about needing some device overwrite permission), pointed the program file where to look (temp file) and the scanner was up and running...
