Very Happy with the Recepter HD

Pros Service is free, radio sounds great, auxillary jack for your MP3 player
Cons Expensive, need a decent external antenna, or live next door to your favorite station
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I'm very happy with the Recepter HD. With a good antenna, I think you will be, too.
I think I'll chime in and say that I'm happy with the Recepter HD. HD Radio is a sure bet for the future because it's free, it sounds good (unlike XM), and here in Orlando, there's more than 6 radio stations already supporting it.

A huge reason why I originally sprang for XM Radio (once upon a time) was the fact that they display the artist and song titles. It's 2007, anything that can't do that is just behind the times. With the Receptor HD you get the artist and titles from HD stations (if the station is transmitting them), and also the older RDS signals (as far as I can tell) that a lot of (non-HD) radio stations have been transmitting for a few years.

Sound quality is very good for a clock/radio, and really stands out. I wouldn't rate it quite as high as a Bose Wave Radio, though. Still very good.

You also get an input jack that your can connect an iPod an any other MP3 player or PDA. Really slick.

I think you'll be happy with HDR, too, if you put some thought into optimizing the reception. Factor in an external antenna (minimally) and set the thing up right. I'm considering adding an "f" connector jack behind master bed leading to a quality antenna mounted inside the attic. That should guarantee excellent reception. Can't wait!
